concept styleframes for Fox Sports commercial

In summer 2021, I worked with Kansas City, MO-based production company BIC Media to create styleframes representing four concepts for a new Skip and Shannon: Undisputed commercial. These designs were pitched to Fox Sports.

Concept 1: Chess Match

Watching Skip and Shannon debate is a lot like watching two chess players trying to outwit each other. This concept plays on their sharp minds and dynamic by representing their rivalry as an epic game of speed chess.

Concept 2: The Literal GOAT

Skip and Shannon often get in heated debates about the G.O.A.T. Is it Tom Brady or Jerry Rice? Michael Jordan or LeBron James? This concept shows the pair passionately trading points and counterpoints, though we’re not sure who or what they’re talking about…until it’s revealed there’s an actual goat standing between them.

Concept 3: Born for This

Skip and Shannon are such sharp debaters today because they’ve been at it since they were in diapers. This concept uses “now and then” photos portraying two young actors as perfect little replicas of Skip and Shay in a mock debate.

Concept 4: Here Comes the Sun

What started out as a playful juxtaposition of the antagonistic relationship between Skip and Shannon eventually transformed into a grungy, illustrated style that leans into the more contentious side of their relationship. The pair is often in fierce disagreement on any topic. To represent this concept I utilized sharp contrasts in the composition and colors, as well as a fragmented typeface.
